Top 5 most likely honeymoon destinations for Meghan and Harry

With the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle only a month away, we’ve found the places fitting enough to host for our new favourite royals on their Honeymoon.

La Mamounia Palace Hotel | SOJOURNE LUGGAGE

Why: These two are about as far away from a stayed, boring royal couple as you can get - so they need to honeymoon in a place just as thrilling, colourful and exciting as they are. Hello, Morocco.

Where they’ll stay: La Mamounia Palace Hotel, Marrakesh. Firstly, it’s a ‘palace hotel’, so it’s certainly fitting for royals, but secondly, Harry’s good mate and British it girl Poppy Delevingne celebrated her nuptials here so it’s already had the tick of approval. We think Meghan, who loves design, will appreciate the exquisite Moroccan architecture and tiling, the grand indoor pool, and enjoying a turn about the garden, home to 1,200 plant species.

Faraway Bay Australia

Why: If the couple choose to delay their honeymoon, it makes sense it be in Australia as they’re due to touchdown in Sydney for the Invictus Games from October 20 to 27. They can even ask Pippa for tips as she honeymooned in Australia in 2017.

Where they’ll stay: While Australia is home to many exclusive resorts and hotels, our top pick would is Faraway Bay in Western Australia. This place is true to its name and is only accessible by helicopter or light plane, guaranteeing the couple ultimate privacy. There’s no electricity or wifi, which we can’t see either one of them caring about because they’ll be making the most of the surroundings by going fishing, discovering ancient rock art, visiting gorges and beach-combing on untouched beaches.

Necker Belle

Why: Harry and Megs have already been invited. Antiqua’s prime minister Gaston Browne met Harry in the early days of his relationship with Meghan and told him, “I believe we are expecting a new princess soon. I want you to know that you are very welcome to come on your honeymoon here.”

Where they’ll stay: The Royals and yachts have a long history (please see adorable photo of baby Harry playing on the deck of Royal Yacht Britannia) so we can see the pair spending two weeks aboard a luxury vessel. Although there’s only one in the Caribbean we can think of worthy for the Royal couple - Richard Branson’s 32m catamaran, Necker Belle. Given Richard has already had Harry stay at his house in Oxfordshire (with his ex-girlfriend …awkward) we can only imagine he’d loan them his yacht.

The Resort at Pedregal

Why: Meghan has previously called herself a ‘daddy’s girl’, so she could put forward Mexico as an option, where her father now calls the small beachside resort of Rosarito in northern Mexico home. They could visit there (Meghan has reportedly never been before) and then go on in search of adventure, tacos, margaritas and white sandy beaches.

Where they’ll stay: If they’re after some spa time after the stress of planning a wedding, they might head straight to The Resort at Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas. This hotel is a Hollywood hotspot (Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and George Clooney all rate it) and it’s won so many awards their mantel might collapse.

Abu Camp Botswana

Why: Because Harry’s longest love affair has been with Botswana. He took Meghan there to celebrate her 36th birthday, and he designed Meghan’s engagement ring with three stones, and he sourced the middle one from Botswana.

Where they’ll stay: We can see them sipping gin and tonic while the sun sets and elephants stroll past at Abu Camp. Don’t be fooled, there’s nothing even remotely resembling a ‘camp’ about this place - it’s unparalleled luxury. And in terms of experiences, we think being able to physically interact with the local heard of elephants is pretty special.
